Bio

Sakura started karate at the age of 7 in Honolulu, Hawaii.  She made the Junior National Team when she was 14 and have been representing the country ever since. When she was younger she loved being around people in the dojo and loved traveling to international events.  As Sakura got older, she started to set bigger goals and fell in love with the sport all over again. To pursue her Olympic dream, she moved to California to stay with a host family, so she could be a full time athlete. She became the first American to qualify for the Olympics and also the only female athlete to  represent Karate from the US at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
